
MSDP Certification Maintenance Requirements
Requirements
MSDP’s are required to complete twenty (20) points of continuing education coursework every year, to be reported annually on December 31. Payment of the annual maintenance fee, which is currently $35, is also due by December 31.
Continuing Education Opportunities
Following is an overview of the activities that qualify for professional development points and the eligible number of points earned for each activity. Twenty (20) points must be reported each year. All activities must be directly related to and consistent with the knowledge base of the sewing and design professions.

Random Audits
A percentage of MSDP’s will be randomly audited each year. If you are selected for an audit, you must present the MSDP Certification Board with proof of attendance/participation.
Failure to Comply
Should you decide not to maintain your certification status, or fail to meet the requirements, your business listing will reflect the change in your status. If you fail to submit your annual report and payment in a timely manner, or fail to earn the required number of points, you will be will be notified in writing by the MSDP Certification Board that your certification has been revoked. You will not be permitted to use the MSDP designation or be credited with such in any ASDP publication or employment inquiry until you have met the MSDP certification maintenance requirements and paid a processing fee.
Reinstatement
To reinstate your certification status, you will be required to accumulate 100 points, plus an additional 20 points per year for every year past your MSDP certification maintenance deadline. If you do not meet the certification maintenance requirements within five (5) years beyond your revocation date, you will be required to re-certify in each module of study.
Termination of MSDP Status
Should you decide not to maintain your certification status, employers or clients who inquire will be duly informed.
